I recently though it would be a good idea to review some books I've read on the area of fly fishing, tying, a the general genre. I enjoy reading and spend alot of time doing just that. I know alot of other fisherman, especially flyfisherman enjoy a good read and engage in that sort of activity. Fly fishing in general tends to provide more of an experience then your average fishing outing. We all tend to observe and inquire our surroundings. These will be books I've personally read and I would ask you to get involved and comment below as well as make recommendations in the comments below.
On this installment of books and reviews I read a good book called " Death, Taxes and Leaky waders" by John Geirach This book is a good collection of essay type stories and lessons learned while fishing. It is based on the thoughts of John, through out his days on the water, his recollections and pondering. He includes his good natured humor as well as a few questions being raised with the very easy to read book. Some stories are more deep than others but overall a very good book. I would recommend this book to anyone with a sense of humor or someone that enjoys reading this style of writing or essay format. I supplied a link below through amazon, So do me a solid and hit the link and read the book
The first book I want to review is Body Of Water, A Sage, Seeker and the Worlds most Elusive fish By Chris Dombrowski hit that link to buy the book. It's more of a personal journey for the author, A journey many of us take in some way shape or form. A path alot of people in there early years take, where they tend to question where they are going, and why their situation is what it is. He had kids, was in debt and over all kinda depressed about his current situation. He wandered around for some years as a guide in the norther section of the United States. As he slowly started to settle down he knew he needed to make a change for his own personal good. Which he didnt know how to until he got a spontanious email about fishing in Grand Bahamas, the biggest Island in the chain. Also the one most everyone knows as the Bahamas.
On his journey he meets famous guides along the way, Studies the elusive fish know as the Bonefish, fills you in on the history of guiding for these fish that generate most of the income for that area along with tourism, which ties hand in hand with the sport fishing. Chris Dombrowski has a style of writing that is poetic and easy to follow along, you get clear visual images of how the bonefish became the most popular sportfish in the world. With wealthy men and women that spend countless dollars on trying to tangle with this fish that for some time was considered trash and used in dog food production. Through this very well written story you learn the path Chris took and the wisdom he gained in the meantime . I encourage you to pick this book up or order it off amazon in the link below. Until the next time dont forget to #wadeforit and follow @the_weekend_wade
